Plot:

Bryan is a pet photographer. His has a beautiful assistant, who is obsessed about him. One day, he was shooting a pet dog of one of his clients, when his assistant enters with another client who brings a cat. Seeing the cat, the dog chases it and ends up in injuring the cat.

The cat’s owner turns out to be the wife of a mafia gang boss, who was having problem with his daughter’s green card. He kidnaps Bryan and to compensate his wife’s cat’s injury, he asks Bryan to marry his daughter so that she can get the green card. Bryan has no other option than to agree. But the gang boss also warns Bryan that his right hand man loves his daughter and wants to marry him, so he will keep an eye on them. Even after the wedding, Bryan cannot touch he gang boss’s daughter, let alone do anything else.

After returning home, Bryan finds his secretary at his apartment trying to seduce him. He does not agree. Bryan also calls his mother asking for advice, but without understanding the whole situation, she forces Bryan to marry the girl.

The gang boss’s right hand man gives Bryan a head start by telling about the girl. Bryan didn’t expect much of that girl, but gets amazed when he finds her, a beautiful lady. From the beginning, they like each other, but only as strangers. But two immigration officers are following her to understand the whole plot.

Soon they get married. In their wedding program, Bryan’s secretary tries to create a scene, but fails. After their wedding, Bryan and his wife goes to a honeymoon trip. To reach that island, they take a helicopter driven by a crazy pilot. On the way, they falls into a storm and finds that most of the helicopter’s equipment are not working. But the crazy pilot somehow manages to take them to the beautiful resort.

Bryan’s wife keeps distance from Bryan according to the whole situation. A waitress at the resort tries to help Bryan so that he can impress his wife. While she was teaching dancing to Bryan, his wife sees it and gets upset.

Then the waitress tells Bryan about a beautiful place where he should take his wife to cheer her.  Bryan and his wife visits there. But from there, two persons kidnaps Bryan’s wife. Bryan comes back to the hotel and to add more complication to the situation, his secretary and the right hand man of the gang boss also arrives at the hotel. The waitress again offers her help and her cousin, the crazy helicopter pilot takes Bryan, his secretary and the waitress to search Bryan’s wife.

Bryan’s secretary falls for the helicopter pilot and their activities harm the rescue mission. In the meantime, Bryan’s wife escapes from the kidnappers and finally Bryan manages to find her. But they were still being chased by the kidnappers and the right hand man of the mafia boss.

The last part of the movie is about their running away and staying alive, the plot and betrayal about the kidnapping and about Bryan and his wife’s relation.

My reviews about this movie:

To be honest, I didn’t expect much from this movie. At first, it seemed to me as just a B grade romantic movie, so I felt strange when Mena Suvari and Rob Schneider appeared on it. But as time passed, the movie became interesting and I ended up liking this movie to a bit.

The plot is good, perfect for a romantic comedy movie.  There are enough drama to keep you interested throughout the movie. The locations where this movie is shot are also beautiful.

My opinion will be, this movie has a great problem with the casting and the script. The director should have appointed a more renowned and strong actor as the gang boss. That character alone could make this movie much mature. Or even keeping him, the director should have made that character’s role stronger. Again, Mena Suvari’s character seemed too immature. I know her character here was supposed to be immature, but it was too much which has affected this movie. A more renowned actor as the hero could take this movie much higher. Katharine McPhee looked beautiful in here and her acting was also good.

Dialogues are okay, expect for some characters. The makeup and the camera works were good too.

There are no nude scenes in this movie, so its safe to watch this one with kids.

The ending is a little dramatic but it looked good. Although ending of this movie is not unpredictable for a romantic movie, but I like the way things happened.

My feeling is, this movie had a great potential to be a really beautiful movie, but has failed for the lack of good casting, acting and dialogues.

So overall, I liked this movie, specially when I expected almost nothing from it after seeing the first few minutes. I won’t mark it as a great movie, but still, I’d recommend it to all romantic movie lovers. But remember, don’t watch it with high expectations, it will fail to you.

Plot:

This movie tells the story of an Indian village girl named Trishna. Her regular life involves helping with her father’s business, spending time with her younger siblings and working part-time in a luxurious hotel on special occasions. A young man named Jay (who used to live in London and cant speak Hindi) visits the hotel where Trishna works with his friends and likes her. They gives a lift to Trishna and her friends and thus knows her house. Next day, Trishna and her father faces an accident which paralyze her father.  On their way back to home, Jay offers Trishnaa job at his father’s hotel, which he is taking care of right now.

Few days later, he sends a letter to Trishna’s father stating the formal job proposal for Trishna. This changes her life. She accepts that job and moves to that hotel which was on another state. While working there, Trishna receives special attention and care from Jay. One night, Jay saves Trishna from some eve teasers and takes her to a garden and kisses her (at least, this was shown on the screen).

On the next morning, Trishna leaves the hotel and comes back to her home. She starts feeling morning sickness after a few days. Her family takes her to a hospital and the doctor finds that she was pregnant. Then she has an abortion. After getting well, she starts working on her uncle’s factory.

In the meantime, Jay goes to her home and from there, he gets the address of Trishna’s uncle’s factory where she was working then. He goes there and asks Trishna to move in with her in the city and Trishna agrees. Trishnaleaves her current job just then and moves into Jay’s apartment. They starts living as lovers. At that time Jay was busy in making a movie with his friends. Trishna enjoys living there and starts to go to a dance class.

On day, Jay’s father falls sick in London and Jay goes to London to visit him, leaving Trishna alone in the apartment. While he was there, the lease of that apartment gets expired and Trishna moves into her friend’s apartment. When Jay comes back to Trishna, he had to take care of his father’s hotel again and Trishna goes back to her life as a hotel waitress.

Day by day, Jay becomes more aggressive and forces Trishnato have sex with him. He reads the books of ‘Kama Sutra’ and does the experiments on Trishna. He starts to use her to fulfill his abusive fantasies against her will. His abusive behavior grows more than what Trishna can tolerate, so one day she tries to take her fate in her own hand.

My Reviews about this movie:

First of all, I’d say, I loved this movie.

The plot of this movie is very good and realistic. It tells the story of an ambitious girl and what may happen to her if she runs after her ambitions blindly. It also shows us how a man can behave if he thinks he completely owns a girl. Although the ending is a little dramatic, but it is very much attached to the real world.

I’ve written the plot is realistic, but still I’ve found some small scenarios in this movie which doesn’t fit, specially for a rural Indian society. For example, when Trishna came back to her village for the first time from the hotel job, she was pregnant and she had an abortion. But none of her family members questioned her about it (as shown on this movie) and all of them seemed okay about it. This will never happen in an Indian society. Another time, when she left her job at her uncle’s factory to move in with Jay, she left just then without any further thinking (not thinking about her family or paralyzed father or anything else ), which also looked unrealistic to me.

Acting of all the characters is good enough. Remember, this movie is completely focused on Trishna which makes all other characters side characters. And Freida Pinto has done an awesome job of acting here. Her beautiful face and acting has blended perfectly with her character in this movie. I think only a very few Indian actresses could be matched in this movie this much. The acting of the other characters is satisfactory. Same goes for make-up, no excess use of glamour was seen in this movie, which keep the quality of this movie intact.

The director has also done a praiseworthy job of choosing the locations in this movie. The parts involving Trishna’s village is shot in a very rural area where the hotels used in this movie are gorgeous. They match perfectly to the plot of this movie.

Although there was no direct nudity seen in this movie, but for the subject, this movie is not appropriate for kids.

So, overall, I’d say, this movie is a nice piece of work, specially for the fans of drama movies. Although from time to time this movie plays a romantic note, but it is nowhere near a typical drama movie. I believe, anyone will enjoy watching it.

Mirror Mirror Movie Review

Mirror Mirror

We all have seen different adaptations of the famous story of Snow White by Brothers Grimm and Mirror Mirror is another of them. It is released in 2012. This movie is directed by Tarsem Singhand and  starred by  Lily Collins, Julia Roberts, Armie Hammer, Nathan Lane, and Sean Bean.

Plot:

Snow White is a princess, who’s mother dies at childbirth. Her father loves her very much and raises her. When she was a child, her father marries another woman. He leaves the castle for a fight and never returns, which, at one point, puts Snow’s new mother as the ruler of the country as the queen.

Snow White grows up to her teenage and wants to visit the land. But she can never go beyond the strict regulations of the queen. The queen never allows her to go outside the castle. Then we can see the greedy nature of the queen. She always lives in her royal comforts, where the costs for those come from the poor people’s taxes.

One day, Snow White manages to go outside the castle. While passing the jungle (which is rumored to be haunted by a mysterious beast) she meets a prince along the way, who is robbed by some dwarfs. Snow White goes to the nearby town and finds the people’s sad condition. In the meantime, the prince reaches the castle and meets the queen. By noticing his smartness and wealth, the queen falls in love of the prince. She throws a ball to amaze the prince, but secretly Snow White joins the ball. But Snow white gets caught by queen and the queen orders her servant to take Snow White to the jungle and to feed her to the beasts. The servant releases Snow White in the jungle and Snow White ends up at the cabin of the dwarfs.

At first she finds it a little hard to gain the dwarf’s trust, but soon they love her and she helps them to gain the love and acceptance of regular people. The prince meets Snow White and informs the queen that she is alive.

Being angry, the queen uses her spell and turns her servant into a cockroach. She then uses another spell to make the prince fall in love for her, which creates a ‘puppy love’ in the prince for her. Bound by the spell, the prince agrees to marry her.

Then the queen uses another of the dark magic to kill Snow White and the dwarfs. But Snow white defeats them. Then she, with the dwarfs, crashes the queen’s wedding party and kidnaps the prince. At the dwarfs’ cabin, she breaks the prince’s spell.

Next part of the story is about Snow White’s confronting the queen and bring happiness to the kingdom.

My reviews about this movie:
First of all, I’ll say, I’ve enjoyed this movie.

If you are looking for a serious movie, Mirror Mirror will disappoint you. This movie is a childish and funny movie, it is made to enjoy in a light mood. We know about “Snow White and The Huntsman” which is made on almost same plot as this one and is a rather serious one, but Mirror Mirror gives you a complete different feeling than that one and I must admit, watching Mirror Mirror feels better.

The plot is nothing new, almost everyone who is reading this blog knows the story of Snow White and Seven Dwarfs, so you may find very little twist in the plot.

The dialogues are good, specially of the dwarfs’. The dwarfs here are very funny characters and pleasant to watch (unlike the ones from the Snow White and The Huntsman). But other dialogues are also a good fit for a comedy movie.

Acting of all the characters are also good enough. There is no question about the acting capabilities of Julia Roberts, and here, she has done no injustice to her name and reputation. Although Lily Collins has not done a big number of movies, but I loved her acting in this movie, pretty fluent and cute. Other characters has also played their parts well, no over-acting or lack of expressions.

The special effects are okay too for a fantasy film.

There is no nudity or violent scene, so feel free to watch it with children.

So, finally, as I said, I liked Mirror Mirror  But remember, this movie is a light childish movie, don’t look for much depth or seriousness in it. If you are looking for a movie to lighten your heart, I’d definitely recommend it. Other than that, Mirror Mirror a nice one, watch it.

Newlyweds

Newlyweds is an American drama film released at 2011. It is directed written and by  Edward Burns. Edward Burns, Kerry Bishé, Marsha Dietlein, and Caitlin Fitzgerald stars in this movie.

Plot:
Buzzy and Katy are just a regular newlywed couple living their ordinary life. They are very close to the family of Katy's sister (she and her husband) who are leading an unhappy conjugal life. Buzzy regularly visits to a gym which is owned by Katy's sister's husband. Katy's sister and her husband regularly fights with each other  over very small things and whenever they are around Buzzy and Katy stops their fight.

One day, the simple life of Buzzy and Katy gets interrupted when Buzzy’s sister Linda comes to live in their apartment without proper prior notice. Linda leads a bohemian lifestyle, without taking much care about anything. Buzzy loves her younger sister very much, but Linda’s lifestyle doesn’t match with the peaceful lifestyle of the couple and this irritates Katy. For the sake of the peace inside the house, Katy keeps herself from exploding.

To make the situation worse, Katy's old boyfriend visits their home one day for some reason and meets Linda, who, starts to see him. He has a lot in common with Linda, but Buzzy has a hard time accepting this relation and asks Linda to get away from it.

The fights between Katy's sister and her husband grows more and more and at at one point, they get separated. After separation, she moves in with Katy which complicates the situation more. She also cannot tolerate Linda and wonders why Katy is letting Linda stay in their house.

All these things together create irritations between Buzzy and Katy. So, the happy life of Buzzy and Katy gets complicated and they start to think about their marriage all over.

My review about this movie:
I find Newlyweds as just a regular romantic movie, nothing more. It felt nothing special.

The plot is very simple, and at the end, you will find a very predictable conclusion for a romantic movie. The only positive thing about the plot is, it tells the realistic story of a couple, which can happen to anyone.

The acting of all the major characters were okay. Same goes for the dialogues and makeups.

The characters of Katy’s ex-husband and of her brother in law seems very weird to me. Both of them seemed irregular and unrealistic. The character of Linda is okay, she just portraits a girl who doesn’t care about anything.

In the whole movie, the main characters are seen giving their comments (from being outside of the plot of the movie) about the current situation in every few minutes, which gives the film a documentary-like image. Seriously, I haven’t found any point for this. It could feel better, if the director could tell the stories in a regular way. Leaving this comments parts, the director could add more story in this movie.

As I said, there is nothing surprising about the ending.

So, overall, I didn’t enjoy watching Newlyweds  I won't recommend it for any reason, but if you still want to watch it……… its your choice.

Friends With Kids Movie Review

Friends with Kids

Plot:
This movie tells the story of two long time best friends Jason and Julie and four more friends of them. Among the other four friends of them, Alex & Leslie and Ben & Missy are couples with children. Both of the couple are living a very unhappy married life. None of Jason and Julie has plans for getting married, but Julie wants to have a child with Jason and Jason agrees to her proposal.

So they do it and Julie gives birth to a baby boy, Joe. Together they start parenting in a beautiful way by sharing the responsibilities. Their life becomes much better, beyond the imagination of the other two couples. But soon Julie gets a crush on Jason and gets hurt when Jason starts seeing another girl. Her feelings get expressed by her behavior, but Jason overlooks them. Controlling herself, Julie also starts to see another man.

The six friends, along with Jason’s girlfriend and Julie’s boyfriend, goes to a ski trip. At a dinner there, Ben (one of the other four friends) starts questioning Julie and Jason’s relation and their future. Soon it starts a argument between Jason and Ben and at a point, Ben leaves the resort. Later on Ben and his wife gets divorced.

After a few days, on her birthday, Julie tells Jason about her feelings towards him but Jason replies, he thinks of Julie only as her friend and he is having a good relation with his girlfriend.

Julie cannot live with that, so she leaves her place and moves to somewhere a little far from Jason. Few days later, Jason brakes up with her girlfriend and feels that, he also has feelings for Julie.

Next………… okay, lets watch the movie to know what happens next.

My review about this movie:
First of all, I’d say, its just a typical romantic movie.

The plot is regular and the ending is very predictable, what we expect in all regular romantic movies. You can predict the ending in just 10 minutes after the movie starts and it will not surprise you. So there is nothing special about the plot.

The acting is just okay, nothing extraordinary. Actually I didn’t like the acting of Adam Scott. To be honest, I’d say the acting of all the other characters are not that good, but still will not make you feel bad watching it.
The makeups are also good.

A good thing about this movie is the appearance of Megan Fox as Jason’s girlfriend. But she doesn't have much effects on the plot, just adds glamour to this movie, nothing more.

There is nothing else special in this movie to look for.

About comedy……. I haven’t found much of that in here.

So, overall, don’t expect much from this movie, otherwise you will be disappointed. I will not recommend Friends With Kids as a great movie, but if you are a fan for the romantic movies, watching it wont hurt you.
